This WFMW isn’t really that exciting, but it definetly works for me, so I thought I’d share it.

First, let me begin by saying that I am a very messy cook…but then again aren’t all good cooks? :) At least I always clean up my mess! That’s where my tip comes in. I hate to have wet or messy hands and have to run all over the kitchen dripping until I find the dish towel. So, I take a clean dish towel and fold it in 3rds lengthwise and tuck about 2 inches into the waistband of my pants. The towel is always right there when I need it. I take the dirty dish towel from the previous day and throw it in the floor. If I drop something on the floor while I’m cooking, I just grab the towel with my foot and wipe it up. At the end of the day I toss it into the laundry. Tomorrow, the regular dish towel goes to the floor, and I get a clean one to use for my hands or to tuck while I’m cooking!

I tuck my towel into my apron string. (I'm so messy I have to wear an apron...)

I do that too, I usually have as many dishtowels in the laundry as handtowels, and sometimes I just leave one on the floor for those inevitable spills.

Michelle, I've got a few aprons, but they drive me crazy, especially around the neck. I need to find one that's more comfortable. I've learned to at least grab an old t-shirt while I'm cooking. I've ruined many a shirt while cooking.

I'd really have to suck it in to tuck a towel in my jeans! Love the idea of having one out ahead of time!

Great point Katherine it works much better when I'm wearing my "i feel fat pants". :) You can tuck the towel into a pocket also, for instance with jeans.

Mine goes on my shoulder just like my grandmother's but never thought about the floor. Then again I have my own clean up crew, Molly and Sam Cody!

I like this idea, especially about putting the dirty towel on the floor. My towel usually ends up thrown over my shoulder, which also works for me.

Thanks for sharing!

Oh, yes! I can so use this idea. And the family won't be grabbing the towel off the counter to wipe gross-ness, then setting it back down without telling me about the germies and me using it in complete and utter ignorance.

My towel! Mine!

Love this!

Great idea. Especially for when theres more than one cook in the kitchen and it seems like the other cook is always hiding the towel from me!

what a great idea. I could really use this with my children, because they have troubles keeping things off the floor.
