There are several times throughout the year that McDonald's will offer toys that I really would like for Brayden to have. For instance, they currently have the "Cars" cars. There are 10 of them I believe. I wanted to get all of them for him, but I didn't want to feed him 10 Happy Meals in the process, so I just buy the toy. I think it's like $1.14 per toy. I run by McDonald's like once a week during the series and see which new ones they have. Most of the time, I buy them while Brayden isn't with me and stash them. They make great little rewards for good behavior. It's hard to find toys that your kids will really like for less than 2 bucks these days. He loves getting his cheap Mickey-D toys though. I assume other fast food places would sell just the toy as well, I've just never asked.
One last thing, I usually buy 2 of each of the Disney Series ones. I keep one in the original package and stash it away for good. I thought it would be cool to give them all to Brayden one day when he leaves the nest. I wish I would have saved some of mine from my childhood. Have you seen how much those things go for on Ebay??

Great idea! And I didn't even know McDonald's allowed this. Thanks for posting it!
Great idea and I had forgotten about this option. I will have to try this when my son is hooked on one of the toys :)
We keep our extra McD's toys for our shoeboxes at Christmas...A cool idea you have there, almost like a time capsule!
Great idea! My favorite McDonalds promotion ever was the little Madame Alexander dolls. Ah!
I didn't know you could do that! Thanks for sharing.
I didn't know either, but in an attempt to please my son (who only wanted nuggets and no fries but still wanted a toy)I asked. And sure enough they said yes. I've done it at 2 different locations, so I assume they all do it. The receipt actually says something like "Happy Meal - toy only"
Ooo, I didn't know you could buy them seperately, great idea!
I never knew you could buy just the toy that is so good to know. I was out shopping with my two year old today and she saw two of the cars from the movie in a package and begged me for it. It was $6.00 for both of the cars. Funny, right after that, we went through McDonalds, but didn't get a happy meal. Ha! I could have gotten her one car and saved myself $5.00. So, good to know, thanks!
Once again - great ideas!!!
